Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there! Here are some vintage Tony Leonard pictures of some special mothers and their foals.
Won't Tell You, dam of the 1978 Triple Crown winner Affirmed, on May 25, 1980. At her side is an eight-day-old Exclusive Native colt later named Silent Fox. The full brother to Affirmed went on to be a Grade 1-placed winner and a sire for his breeder, E. C. Johnston, Jr.
Secretariat's stakes-winning daughter Secrettame romping on the Mare Haven Farm of her owners and breeders, Dr. & Mrs. William O. Reed, on March 27, 1990 with her Mr. Prospector colt (later named Demidoff). Secrettame's first foal was the Grade 1 winner and top sire Gone West (by Mr. Prospector), and she also produced Grade 2 winner and European sire Lion Cavern.
Canadian champion 2yo filly Queen Louie with her 1980 Sir Ivor filly Manzanares at North Ridge Farm in October of 1980. By Crimson Satan, Queen Louie was an influential broodmare; her descendants include Perfect Soul, Flashy Bull, Gold Meridian and Stopshoppingmaria.

1957 Broodmare of the Year Belle Jeep at the Maine Chance Farm of her owner, cosmetics queen Elizabeth Arden. All 12 of her foals to race were winners, including champion 2yo colt Jewel's Reward.
Mellow Marsh with her Alydar filly Melodeon at Spendthrift Farm on April 6, 1984. Mellow Marsh, a half-sister to Affirmed's sire Exclusive Native, was a stakes winner and a top broodmare.
