Sealing the Track at Keeneland

A method long used to ‘float’ the track but mostly unknown to new generations of race fans. At the historic and iconic Keeneland Racecourse in Lexington, Kentucky track employees command mules to smooth out the muddy surface between races. This vintage view is likely the mid 1960’s with a view of Rice Road where the Thoroughbred Club of America sits today. It is guaranteed to be a talking piece of any viewer of the photograph, a favorite among our collection fans people are always astounded at it’s subject and amused when they notice the unknown reason for choosing to use mules or draft horses (see it?). A must for any Keeneland fan but we think every racing or history fan as well, this special print is not guaranteed to stay on offer for sale so grab one for your collection while you still can!
